My Perfect Weekend...

There is no better place to take the family during any season of the year than beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona. Located at 7,000 feet, the cool pines welcome you to a vacation at your own pace. Looking to do something adventurous outdoors with the kids? Hit the trails! Surrounded by the largest Ponderosa forest in the world, Flagstaff is chalk-full of hiking and biking trails. The most strenuous yet most rewarding hike is climbing to the top of the San Francisco Peaks. The Humphrey's Peak hike brings you to the highest point in the state of Arizona at 12,633 feet! The best time is to go during the fall when the aspens have all turned golden yellow and cover the trail like a yellow brick road. From the top you can see the entire Grand Canyon, the Red Rocks of Sedona, the numerous lakes of Northern Arizona, and the vast evidence of the regions volcanic past. If the hike is more than you're planning to do but still want the breathtaking views that 'the peaks' have to offer, take the ski lift to the top of the Snowbowl Ski Resort! The SkyRide during summer offers some of the best views in the state! And yes, Arizona gets snow! And lots of it! Enjoy a winter wonderland from mid-November sometimes through April. What about a leisurely day of shopping? Flagstaff's Historic Downtown is the child of the railroad that passes right through town as well as the historic Route 66, which in fact passes THROUGH downtown Flagstaff! A mix of stores for outdoor enthsiasts to candle junkies, there is something for everyone! During the summer months, 'Movies on the Square' are show on the big screen in Heritage Square. Bring a blanket and watch a favorite movie under the star filled skies. Flagstaff is the worlds first 'international dark sky city,' which means you will see more stars than you have ever seen! Enjoy them from your hotel room or head out and go camping! The Grand Canyon is just over an hour away, the perfect day trip for families! Or jot down to Sedona to bask in the warm sun in one of the most beautiful and cultured towns in Arizona. There is nothing not to love about Flagstaff, Arizona.
